the zune is phenomenal! I really like it a lot, the zune software can be kind of a pain for video ( the latest version doesn't have a hack yet to allow the software to recognize more than the very few formats it accepts) but zuneboards.com has a lot of great links to freeware converters, and so far, I'm very pleased.
The zune software always converts the video files you give it, so that it fits perfectly on the screen. Again, that takes a little more time, but i think its definately worth it. With music, Its pretty much amazing. I haven't had a single problem with music.

Zune pretty much rules.
I use software to convert my videos but I make sure they are Zune ready right away to save time. Right now I have like 30 movies, Season 1 of MASH, and quite a bit more video on it.
